Installing Windows 8 CP on Asus B121 Part 2

In my previous post I installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview on the Asus B121.  Now I am going to continue where we left off and install any missing drivers.

Open Device Manager to see what is missing.

1. From the new Windows 8 Start Screen, click on the Desktop icon.
2. Right click on the desktop and select Personalize.
3. Click the link in the upper left named “Change desktop icons”
4. Put a check under Control Panel and click Apply and then OK.
5. Double click Control Panel
6. Click on the the Hardware and Sound link.
7. Under Devices and Printers click on Device Manager.

This is a list of the drivers that Windows is unable to find.

Download all the Asus B121 Drivers from here.

Missing: Bluetooth Peripheral Device
Resolve: Download the Bluetooth Driver under Utilities.  Extract and Install.

Missing: PCI Simple Communications Controller
Resolve: Connect to Windows Updates and install additional hardware.  You should see two main hardware updates.  This resolves your missing hardware.

I have been using Asus B121 with Windows 8 CP as a production machine for a while now.

It is quite impressive and much better than the stock Windows 7 that came with it.

Just that the freezing issue keeps popping out here and there but still manageable, just wondering why it did not have the issue at W8 DPE

Waiting for drivers to be compatible….. with the auto rotate and such

I can’t speak for DP, just recently pickedup the B121, but I did initially have the B121 lose all touch and pen responsiveness for 30-45 seconds in the CP. I reimaged it and I haven’t had any freezing issues since. Not sure if I missed a driver on the first go around or what. I am looking forward to the W8 Release Preview coming up in the next week. I am sure the auto-rotate will still be an issue, but I can workaround that by manually rotating it.

      Thanks for your comment.

Yes indeed! Using the funny mobile thingy to do so for the autorotate thing

Apparently the freezing issue affects Windows 8 with SSDs

Oh well, waiting for the next reiteration.

        See you

        Did you disable the Defrag?
Next update of W8 is so very close….
